i do not think romney, governor romney has been more bellicose. what he has been clear about is the u.s. should be increasing pressure on the iranians every way it can. there should have been tougher sanctions in place sooner. we should have taken opportunities to stand and strengthen the iranian opposition to put pressure on the regime domestically, politically, which the united states did not do when it had this sort of once in a generation opportunity in june of 2009 and it should make the threat of military action credible. it's not to say that we're advocating for military action or even that we would use military action but we want the iranian leadership to believe that we are serious about military action and on all these fronts, on sanctions, on supporting the opposition within iran and conveying to the iranians that the alternative is military action, we have sent many mixed signals. it's been confusing and that's why we are where we are, where we're just not viewed as credible in the eyes of the iranian leadership. >> let me play a littl

it's easy for governor romney to say, that's not actually in my plan, because governor romney hasn't really been forthcoming about his plan, about what it will mean for middle class families and how he makes up that money without hurting our economy, slowing it, or hurting middle class families. >> governor, let me ask dana bash who's sitting with me a quick question. i think a lot of people have been pointing out missed opportunities. the 47% never mentioned, bain capital never mentioned. all these things that were in the ads from the obama campaign were actually never mentioned. the $716 billion number, which governor romney mentioned, was never debunked and it had been debunked many times before. he didn't bring up the governor's taxes or talk about immigration policies. big impact, i would think, of those misses in this debate. >> that's why i'm listening to the governor talking about skating and dancing around the questions, you might argue that president obama skated and danced around what he needed to do. because this wasn't just a serious of speeches. this was a debate. they

will we hear governor romney lay out more specifics? >> i expect differences on how the two candidates approach tax reform. actually, the president's lack of actual tax reform and governor romney's plan to reform the tax code. as we get into specifics, we'll see how he talks in specifics how he wants to lower rates, spur economic growth, and how we'll broaden the base. we'll get into those issues and a whole lot of others, he'll prepare for specifics. that's what voters want to know. what the future of the american economy would look like under president romney. and he's prepared to do that. >> thank you very much. candy, we'll wait and see if we get specifics later on tonight during the debate. >> jim acosta, thanks. i'm joined by press secretary for the obama campaign, jen, i asked this of jessica yellin earlier, and i want to ask you. your candidate, steeped in policy for almost four years ago now, a very eloquent speaker, understand these issues. what the heck are you worried about tonight? >> look, all we're worried about is making
